Usability Center

The Center for Teaching & Learning operates a Usability Center. The Usability Center tests the usability of multiple products including software, Web content, applications, and more. The goal of a usability test is to help evaluate the design, usability, and user accessibility of the product being tested.

Our Usability Center is equipped with a technology suite that can record screen capture of the test participant’s actions while using a product; including mouse tracking as well as audio/video capture of the participant. This information is recorded and analyzed to produce a detailed usability report to the client and provide helpful feedback in the development and evaluation process.

The Usability Center also conducts focus groups and other quality assurance activities. The center can be used by members of the BYU community for many different research/testing purposes. For more information about the center, please contact Larry Seawright by e-mail at larry_seawright@byu.edu.
